Case Study: Runna is Building the First Centralized Runners' Community

The challenge
Runna, a training app for runners founded in 2020, wanted to build a centralized global runners' community. A key requirement was that the community be embeddable directly within its existing mobile app, which the team had not found offered elsewhere.
The solution
Runna built a community on Bettermode and embedded it into the Runna app, using Embed tools, JWT SSO, moderation, and a Mixpanel integration. JWT SSO let mobile app users log in to the community seamlessly.

The results, in context
Within a span of six months, the Runna community grew to more than 2,500 members. Members returned to the community an average of 3-4 times per week.
